Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE), also called Sardy Field, sits beside Highway 82 near Aspen. Four distinct ski mountains are accessible from this airport: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass. They share the Aspen Snowmass brand but are not one interchangeable drop-off. RFTA airport service links the valley with Aspen and Snowmass; the winter Four Mountain Connector is a separate service whose dates and stops need checking. Aspen Mountain starts in downtown Aspen, while the other mountains have their own bases. A short flight-to-resort distance still requires baggage collection, the right bus direction and a suitable final walk or local ride. When choosing an arrival time, you can compare flights to Aspen/Pitkin County Airport and check whether it leaves enough time for the last coach or train into the mountains.
Use RFTA’s airport-service page to find the current stop, walking instructions and direction. Check the specific route for Aspen or Snowmass and any change required for Highlands or Buttermilk. A bus stop on Highway 82 is not automatically the lift entrance.
Allow for winter flight disruption and Highway 82 traffic. Independence Pass is not a normal winter alternative; arrange the actual airport pickup or local bus connection.
These approximate road distances help you shortlist a destination. The exact distance depends on your hotel and the road used; check live directions before travel.
