ARRIVAL CHECKLISTBefore leaving Kraków John Paul II Airport
Kraków John Paul II Airport (KRK) is at Balice, west of Kraków, and has a railway station connected to the terminal area by a covered walkway. Koleje Małopolskie’s airport service provides a practical connection to Kraków Główny, beside the MDA coach station. Zakopane, Białka Tatrzańska and Bukowina Tatrzańska lie south in Podhale, but have different final bus stops and ski bases. Jasná and Štrbské Pleso are in Slovakia: a cross-border coach or a pre-booked road leg must be checked separately. Arriving at the city rail station is only the first part of an airport-to-ski-resort journey. Choose an onward service after baggage collection rather than booking an optimistic connection from the flight’s scheduled touchdown.
- Traffic on the southern Zakopianka corridor can lengthen weekend road trips. For Slovakia, check the actual cross-border service date and rental permission. A Polish city ticket does not include the Slovak mountain leg.
- Confirm the terminal, hotel address and ski luggage before booking.
- Keep enough time between landing and a fixed onward departure.
