About skiing in Cauterets
Cauterets combines a valley town with two different winter areas. The Lys gondola reaches the main alpine domain from town, while Pont d’Espagne is a separate road journey for Nordic skiing and winter outings. Book accommodation for the activity you intend rather than treating both bases as one lift-linked circuit.
Ski areas and terrain
Lys gondola
Town access to the main alpine plateau; check first and last lifts.
Cirque du Lys
Mountain skiing above the village with rentals and lesson meeting points.
Pont d’Espagne
Separate Nordic and winter-walking area with its own transport plan.
Piste difficulty: Use the current Lys map to choose learning terrain, blue and red progression or steeper skiing. Nordic trail grading at Pont d’Espagne does not describe downhill-piste difficulty.
Planning your arrival: The airport journey ends in Cauterets town. Cirque du Lys follows by gondola; Pont d’Espagne needs a separate road connection. Confirm the property and last lift.
