About skiing in Discovery Ski Area
Discovery Ski Area is near Georgetown Lake in western Montana, with a road journey from Missoula, Butte or surrounding towns. Its terrain naturally separates into easier front-side runs, broader cruising routes and much steeper backside choices. The lodge is a day-ski arrival rather than a large pedestrian resort village, so accommodation and mountain transport often need separate bookings. A transfer to Philipsburg or a Georgetown Lake cabin does not automatically reach the lift base. Choose a realistic opening-day and return plan, then confirm the final access-road conditions. The official acreage describes in-bounds terrain, not the number of groomed runs available on a particular date. Use the current map and report before moving toward the more demanding lifts.
Ski areas and terrain

Backside and Limelight terrain
Steeper, more demanding slopes; respect open-lift and boundary instructions.
Piste difficulty: Official mix: 20% beginner, 25% intermediate, 25% advanced and 30% expert. Limelight is expert terrain.
Planning your arrival: Specify the Discovery lodge or your actual cabin. Philipsburg and Georgetown Lake stops leave a separate ski-base ride.
