About skiing in Grand Tourmalet

Grand Tourmalet is a linked ski domain with two different road approaches. Barèges offers a valley village and Tournaboup base; La Mongie provides a higher accommodation base on the eastern side. The ski connection depends on open lifts and weather. Pic du Midi freeride is a separate proposition from ordinary marked pistes.

MARKED PISTESMore than 100 km across the Barèges–La Mongie domain
ALTITUDEMain alpine domain reaches approximately 2,500 m; valley lodging is lower

Verify connection status and return lifts before crossing on skis.

Piste difficulty: Learning zones exist on both sides. Blue and red routes allow progression when the links are open; stronger skiers can select harder marked terrain. Guided high-mountain outings require their own planning.

Planning your arrival: Choose Barèges village, Tournaboup or La Mongie explicitly. This example maps to Barèges; La Mongie needs the eastern approach. The Tourmalet pass is closed to road traffic in winter.
