About skiing in Monterosa
Monterosa spans three distinct valleys. Champoluc and Frachey provide the Val d’Ayas approach, Gressoney is in the central valley and Alagna lies on the Piedmont side. The linked network suits skiers who want to explore across sectors, but the road bases are far apart. Smaller local areas and the main linked domain can have different pass coverage.
Ski areas and terrain
Champoluc and Frachey
Val d’Ayas lift bases serving the main linked domain.
Gressoney
Central-valley access toward the connecting high mountain terrain.
Alagna
A separate eastern road base; verify return connections before crossing valleys.
Piste difficulty: The domain combines easier marked slopes with substantial red terrain and demanding descents. A full cross-valley day requires sufficient ability and time for the return lifts. Freeride itineraries are separate from groomed pistes and require local mountain expertise.
Planning your arrival: Give Champoluc, Frachey or Antagnod and the actual hotel address. If the accommodation is in Gressoney or Alagna, request a different road itinerary. Ski lifts between valleys are not an evening luggage-transfer service.
