About skiing in Ruka
Ruka has accommodation at the village and Ruka Valley on different sides of the mountain. The ski network includes the central front side, Saarua and Masto terrain. Choose a ski-school and rental meeting point that fits your lodging rather than simply selecting the most familiar resort name. Airport arrival at one side does not automatically put you near activities booked on the other.
Ski areas and terrain
Ruka village / Front Slopes
Central services and familiar village-side uplift.
Ruka Valley / Saarua
A distinct accommodation and ski-base approach.
Masto
Another sector with its own lift and slope choices.
Piste difficulty: Ski.fi lists one green, 19 blue, 13 red and eight black slopes in the 41-run network. Learning areas, cruising and steeper runs therefore require different choices; freestyle facilities have their own ability requirements. Confirm the open side and operating connection before crossing the mountain. Evening sessions and early-season openings cover specified terrain rather than every piste.
Planning your arrival: Ruka village and Ruka Valley are different arrival points. A slopeside lift or gondola connection should not be relied on for late-evening luggage transport.
