About skiing in Timberline Lodge

Timberline Lodge is on Mount Hood’s south side. The historic lodge, Wy’East Day Lodge and Summit Pass in Government Camp are distinct arrival points. Palmer’s summer skiing reputation does not guarantee winter lift access: wind, snow and operations determine what opens. Confirm the lesson base and published snowcat or shuttle arrangements before using a combined vertical figure for a single ski day.

MARKED PISTES1,685 skiable acres in the operator’s published overview.
ALTITUDEHistoric lodge about 1,829 m (6,000 ft); highest operating point Palmer 2,603 m (8,540 ft); lowest Summit Pass 1,219 m (4,000 ft).

Ski areas and terrain

Lower lift terrain

Sheltered routes and progression skiing below the lodge.

Magic Mile and Palmer

Higher exposed slopes; availability varies with season and weather.

Summit Pass

A lower learning area at Government Camp with a separate road arrival.

Piste difficulty: Lower learning terrain and intermediate runs contrast with exposed upper slopes and terrain parks.

Planning your arrival: For the main Timberline ski area request Wy’East Day Lodge or the historic lodge, not Summit Pass. Check the last Mt Hood Express bus.
