About skiing in Vitosha
Vitosha offers mountain skiing close to Sofia, with Aleko and Vitoshko Lale among the named sectors. It is a city-access mountain rather than a single integrated hotel resort. The operator’s daily lift and piste status matters more than a broad historical piste total, especially when planning around older gondola descriptions.
Ski areas and terrain
Aleko learning area
Confirm the school meeting point and open teaching lift.
Vitoshko Lale
A distinct named piste/lift sector with more demanding terrain.
Plateau and other sectors
Check the current operator status before planning access or a return.
Piste difficulty: The operator lists learning pistes together with steeper named terrain such as Stenata and Vitoshko Lale. Select the area with your instructor and confirm the actual open lifts. A road arrival at Aleko does not mean every sector or connecting lift is operating.
Planning your arrival: Confirm Aleko, Moreni or the specific ski-school meeting point. Zlatnite Mostove and other Vitosha trailheads are different road destinations. Check safe luggage access for the final walk.
