About skiing in Ylläs

Ylläs is one ski fell between Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo. Both villages access the mountain, but a cabin in either village may still require a road journey to the lift base. The two-sided layout matters when booking the airport stop, rental pickup and ski lesson. Do not confuse cross-country trail kilometres in the wider region with the alpine piste total.

Ski areas and terrain

Ylläsjärvi

Southern-side access, including gondola uplift.

Äkäslompolo / Y1

Northern-side ski base, separate from village accommodation.

Summit links

High fell links are subject to current wind, snow and lift operation.

Piste difficulty: The domain has learning terrain, broad intermediate routes and steeper marked options. Check the selected side’s open lifts and wind conditions before relying on a summit crossing. A village-to-village ski outing is not a luggage-transfer plan.

Planning your arrival: Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo are on opposite sides of the fell. Give the exact village and property; a ski lift connection is not an evening luggage transfer.
