About skiing in Zermatt
Zermatt combines the Sunnegga–Rothorn, Gornergrat and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise sides above a car-free village. The 360 km figure refers to the wider international product, including Italian terrain when covered and open. Choose the first uplift and a hotel connection from the station. A road arrival in Täsch still needs the shuttle train and local luggage transfer.
Ski areas and terrain
Sunnegga / Rothorn
A distinct village departure and mountain sector.
Gornergrat
Railway-served mountain with its own route choices.
Matterhorn Glacier Paradise
High uplift and possible Italy links, subject to pass and operation.
Piste difficulty: Learning zones, extensive intermediate skiing and demanding routes require different choices. High terrain and cross-border links depend on wind, conditions and operating lifts. Beginners should select a suitable teaching area, while an international circuit needs the correct pass and enough time to return.
Planning your arrival: Zermatt is car-free. An ordinary road transfer stops in Täsch, then the shuttle train and local hotel connection complete the journey.
